Teen Girl Hauls In Record Wahoo

From latimes.com:

A Texas teenager landed a 184-pound wahoo near Cabo San Lucas last month — a fish that appears big enough to be a new all-tackle world record.

Fifteen-year-old Sara Hayward of Nacogdoches, Texas, caught the fish while angling with her father, Tim, aboard the Pez Espada II on July 29, says Minerva Saenz of Minerva's Baja Tackle. Saenz, a representative with the International Game Fish Assn., verified the weight using certified scales.

The girl fought the fish for about 35 minutes after it struck a trolled lure on 50-pound line about 5 miles southeast of Cabo San Lucas. Hayward looked in the water and screamed, "It's a big one!" when she saw the fish, Saenz says.

Rusty Wallace, Nextel Cup, Cabo

From STLtoday.com:

The Nextel Cup season had yet to begin, but Rusty Wallace's retirement was as official as it could be considering the steps that had been taken to promote his departure.

He had titled his farewell season "Rusty's Last Call," merchandise with that slogan was being stocked at tracks around the country, and a coinciding concert series was planned...

..."These other (Nextel Cup) guys are all talking about going to Cabo San Lucas and being in Hawaii and this and that," Wallace said during a break in testing. "Guys I race with are out of the country, and I'm here sweating, getting ready. But it's where I was born, and I have a ton of friends here. It's an honor. I really want to run well here."

Check out the whole thing.

Lost Weekend In Cabo

From Sun-Sentinel.com:

Visitors to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, are usually in high spirits. But when elections bring a ban on alcohol, the glass is empty for everyone.

For you partiers, not to worry. It was just one weekend.
